When it Snows:

 Roads:

The City of Credit River's contractor clears the city streets prioritizing collector and other high-volume streets. The snowplow contractor works throughout a snow event to maintain passable roadways, and a full pass following the conclusion of the snowfall.

Snowplow operators do the best that they can to distribute the snow evenly in the road right of way (ROW). We are unable to honor any requests to direct snow to a specific area in the ROW.

Snow Plowing Policy

Trails:

The City of Credit River does not clear snow from the trails along the county roads or HOA owned trails. Please use caution when using the trails in the winter, wear appropriate footwear and remember that trail conditions are inconsistent.

Parking:

Parking is not allowed on any Credit River public road between the hours of 2:00am and 5:00am per Ordinance 2005-02

Additionally, there is no vehicle parking allowed on Credit River roadways after a snowfall of 3" or more. Parking is prohibited until snow removal activities are complete.

Property Damage:

Snowplowing operations can cause property damage, even under the best of circumstances. The most common damage that can occur are in the City right of way (ROW) - which extends approximately 10'-15' beyond the edge of the road or curb. Items in the ROW that can commonly be damaged are mailboxes, landscaping, and garbage containers. The only items that are permitted in the ROW are USPS approved mailboxes. The intent of the ROW is to provide room for snow storage, and utilities. The City is not responsible for damage to items placed in the ROW and will consider any reported damage on a case-by-case basis.

Damage to Mailboxes:

The City accepts responsibility only for a properly installed USPS-Compliant mailbox if the damage is the result of being physically contacted by a plow blade.

Damage resulting from the force of thrown snow or an improperly installed mailbox is the responsibility of the property owner.

Reporting Damage:

Please use the Report a Public Works Issue form to report any property damage.

Resident Responsibilities:
  • It is illegal to push snow across the road or into the street. Per Minnesota State Statute 160.2715 it is a misdemeanor to obstruct or deposit snow or ice on any road. The property owner may be billed for any expense related to removing snow that was pushed across any road in the City of Credit River.
  • Please make sure that your trash and recycling bins are off of the roadway at least 2 feet during a snow event.
  • Keep a safe distance from the plow trucks, as they often make unexpected turns and back up frequently.
  • Wear bright colored clothing when out for a walk or run. Make sure to give a wave to the snowplow operators to make sure that they see you, and to show your appreciation for their work.
